Dan Kickham
Manager, CIBC Commercial Banking
1. What are your current job responsibilities?
I just received a promotion to Manager. For the past eighteen months Ive been on a rotation program where Ive had the opportunity to work on various banking teams providing advisory and credit services. In my new role I will be managing credit relationships with Mid-Market companies.
2. What is the most exciting part of your job?
I enjoy helping companies grow by providing them with access to capital.
3. Describe the path that took you to your current position?
If Im not constantly challenged in my professional career I get bored fast and Im not afraid to make a move. I completed an Economics degree in 2000 at the U of A. After graduation, I started a career at RBC Royal Bank where I worked my way up to Branch Manager. While at RBC I received an offer to go work in Commercial Real Estate where I assisted in selling and leasing mainly industrial and retail properties. After a year in Commercial Real Estate I elected to get an MBA. MBA career services provided me access to my position at CIBC.
4. How has your MBA changed your career?
The Alberta MBA opened doors for me. It gave me the opportunity to move to Toronto and participate in an excellent Commercial Banking rotation program. Through the program Ive had the opportunity to work on some very interesting transactions in both an advisory and credit capacity.
