What is the Certificate in Quantitative Finance (CQF)?

The CQF is a globally recognised qualification, designed and led by industry expert Dr Paul Wilmott. Launched in 2003, the CQF provides high-level training for individuals in derivatives and risk management. The CQF is a 6 month, part time, intensive program, consisting of evening lectures, discussions and workshops (available both in the classroom and as distance learning) teamed with our unique on-line learning resources. The CQF comprises 6 modules and is assessed by 5 exams and one project.

CQF Faculty Led by Dr Paul Wilmott

The CQF is led by Dr Paul Wilmott, who is internationally renowned as a leading expert in the world of Quantitative Finance. As well as extensive quantitative finance consulting experience with leading US and European financial institutions he has also written over 100 articles in mathematical and finance journals and several internationally acclaimed books on mathematical modeling and derivatives. All members of our faculty make up a highly acclaimed team of leading academics and practitioners specialised in the field of Quantitative Finance.

CQF v MBA

The CQF is highly specific to the world of quantitative finance, providing the perfect qualification for those individuals who want a short sharp introduction into this field. Due to the structure of the CQF, it is specifically designed towards those individuals who do not want to give up work in order to study.

Flexible Study Options

Due to the provision of live interactive webcasts, classroom recordings and online access individuals can study from anywhere in the world. If you are unable to attend an evening class, you are still able to access the classroom recording and live webcasts, which also comes complete with the lectures notes. Distance learners have access to exactly the same resources as those individuals sat in the classroom.

CQF Alumni

All CQF students automatically gain access to the CQF Alumni site. The CQF Alumni is a continually expanding worldwide network of contacts, who network through a range of events and publications. Designed for continual learning after you have completed CQF, the CQF Alumni provides a contact directory and dedicated website.
Continual education is paramount in the world of mathematical finance; the CQF Alumni delivers regular classes on both technical and topical issues, building up an extensive knowledge library which is constantly being updated. This means Alumni can maintain and further their professional development, keeping their knowledge and skills at the forefront of their field.

Excellent Career Opportunities

The demand for employees with strong quantitative skills in financial institutions has never been greater.  The CQF is recognized by both delegates and employers around the world as a high quality program that can give the competitive advantage that opens up superb career opportunities in increasingly global financial markets. Many delegates use the CQF as a stepping-stone in their career paths, while others view it as a chance to enhance their skills in their current position.

Kashif Rashid
SLB Boston Research
I completed the CQF as a distance learner a short while back. I opted for this mode of delivery due to my location outside of London and additionally the time constraints imposed by my job. This is also the reason why I chose the CQF. I wanted to gain a strong appreciation of financial modelling in the shortest time possible. The course not only provided this, but also showed the application of the theory in a practical manner.
The delivery of lectures is very good, the pace is fast and the faculty is outstanding, including invited speakers of renown. The workload is demanding, especially with a job unrelated to the financial discipline and a strong mathematical background is certainly a pre-requisite. From experience, one of the most useful and rewarding experiences is continued access to course material, additional topical seminars and other reference materials. This provides the means to stay current and review old topics as and when necessary. I thoroughly recommend the CQF to anyone seeking a short sharp intensive course to bring them up to speed with knowledge and techniques used in quantitative finance.
