Bradford University School of Management

Established in 1963, Bradford University School of Management is one of the foremost and longest established centres of management research and scholarship in Europe. The MBA recently celebrated its 30th anniversary.

The School has continued to build on its international reputation as a centre for excellence and provides innovative management education with three pathways through the MBA programme - full-time, executive part-time and distance-learning.

The School was ranked second in the UK and eighth in Europe in the Financial Times December 2006 list of the top European business schools.

The Financial Times full-time MBA Survey 2007 placed Bradford School of Management among the top 100 business schools in the world and in the top ten in the UK. The MBA scores particularly well for the value for money it offers students. The latest Financial Times ranking of part-time executive MBAs placed Bradford in the top 10 in Britain and the top 75 in the world.

The UK Treasury has listed Bradford among the top 50 business schools in the world. This means that students from outside the EU who gain a Bradford MBA can enjoy “fast track” immigration status into Britain.

The School of Management is attractively located on a self-contained site, in 13 acres of parkland, with fully-equipped teaching facilities, library, computer laboratories, bookshop, language unit, restaurants, bar and accommodation for up to 25 overseas students. Private, inexpensive accommodation is plentiful in houses very close to the School of Management.

The School of Management supports its teaching with cutting-edge visual aids and videos, advanced computer sytems, and an extensive collection of case studies, business games and other management training materials.

The full-time MBA attracts students from all over the world. It begins in mid-September and takes 12 months.

The executive part-time MBA programme can be completed in two years, or taken over a longer period - up to six years. It begins in September and January each year.

The distance-learning MBA gives maximum flexibility to combine study with work, home and family life. It takes between two and six years to complete, and the programme starts in September and January. Comprehensive paper and web-based learning materials are provided.

Student Profile: Atif Mahmood

Systems manager Atif Mahmood, aged 35, believes that the Bradford MBA delivers life-long benefits. His career has advanced considerably since he completed his executive part-time programme. He is currently planning, identifying, developing, maintaining and supporting IT systems for the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council.

“Within three months of gaining my MBA in July 2003, I was offered various management roles. The ability to develop my career the way I wanted, in today’s climate, made this programme very attractive to me,” said Atif.

“If you want to get an experience that will truly benefit you from cradle to grave, the Bradford MBA has to be the natural choice. It is not just an educational platform, at Bradford you get to meet a superb diversity of people from all walks of life. Networking,
communication and building relationships are a gift from the MBA that cannot be quantified. Bradford graduates are able to tackle with confidence anything that life might throw at them.”
