MBA education has moved away in the last years from being country-specific to a having a more global perspective. To follow this trend, MIP offers a multi-disciplinary core curriculum, that provides great flexibility in terms of concentration areas and gives students the chance to experience the realities of other countries through student
exchanges. In spite of this, our MBA program preserves its Italian uniqueness with concentrations and electives such as Design Management and Luxury Management that combine the best of our academic know-how with Italian design. Career planning at MIP starts from the very first day: students are fully exposed to tailor-made experiences, mentors, and final Project Works. MIP's interaction with the corporate world is not only seen in MIP's 18 shareholder companies, but also in its continuously expanded network with business leaders. For instance, in 2006 MIP is the official educational partner of the World Business Forum in Milan, that will give students and alumni a chance to interact with renowned international figures such as Rudy Giuliani, former Mayor of New York, or former Secretary of State of the US, Ambassador Madeleine Albright. Furthermore, MIP is in the process of obtaining the EQUIS accreditation, further consolidating its international standing. Also, as a result of significant demand from students, we are planning to develop an International Executive MBA in the next two years.
Since it was first established back in 1854, Politecnico di Milano has enjoyed an outstanding reputation in engineering, architecture and design. Its MBA program merges strong technical skills with business training and caters to companies that increasingly look for candidates that combine technical expertise with managerial skills. Globalization and the speed of communication brought by ICTs in today's marketplace, force companies to innovate at a much faster pace and to communicate their innovation more effectively. Indeed, globalization drives the need to understand and combine business and engineering and that is precisely MIP's strength. In addition, students are required to undertake a three months of Project Work, different from the usual internship. The Project Work is a real consultancy intervention during which the student must explore a specific area assigned by the company. Participants will be jointly supervised by a tutor inside the company and an instructor from MIP. Companies invest in each project Euros 7,000 and, in more than 50% of the cases, hire the student at the end. One example: Manish Rachhoya, 2005 Class graduate, carried out his Project Work in Credit Suisse in Zurich and is now working in London for Credit Suisse Asset Management.
In 2005, 45 final Project Works were offered to students by top companies and consultancy firms, totaling Euros 300,000 in funding. These companies were, Bain & Company, McKinsey, The Boston Consulting Group, Ferrari, Whirlpool Europe, Procter & Gamble, Credit Suisse, Italcementi, Alcan Packaging, Indesit Company, Accenture, Gucci, Fiat Auto, among others. Within three months of graduation, 80% of the 2005 MBA class received job offers: 43% of graduates were hired in the manufacturing industry; 23% in management consulting, 16% in financial firms and 18% in services. Our top employers were Bain & Company, McKinsey, Whirlpool, Ferrari, The Royal Bank of Scotland, The Boston Consulting Group, JP Morgan and Credit Suisse.
Our unique Project Work gives students hands-on experience of the real issues and situations they will encounter in their careers. MIP is a vibrant intellectual community mirroring the diversity of today's business world. Our students come from all five continents and our faculty from four. MIP has partners in China, Latin America, and Europe, that continually feed the international dimension of our program, and that are key components of our extensive global research efforts. The MBA curriculum provides students with the flexibility needed to succeed in any country in the world in a wide range of sectors, industries, and capacities. Our graduates go on to work both in small and medium size businesses, and large multinational corporations benefiting from MIP's unique training formula: technological know-how and analytical mind frame, combined with management skills.
