Overview

At Ohio State’s Fisher College of Business, MBA students benefit from a small, intimate program combined with the extensive resources of a major research university. Fisher College’s academically-rigorous MBA program enables a high level of faculty interaction and is focused on teamwork. Students build relationships in and out of the classroom, including networking and mentoring opportunities with top executives and alumni. The college recently launched a Leadership and Professional Development Curriculum that is structured outside the confines of a formal classroom. Through this curriculum, students gain leadership experience and develop their skills based on their individual interests and professional goals. Highlights include:

*A state-of-the art, six-building integrated business campus
Fisher College’s 400,000-square foot, wi-fi enabled-campus features an advanced computer network, satellite uplink capabilities and video-on-demand.

*High-impact teaching from a renowned research faculty
MBA courses are taught by senior-level faculty who are experienced educators, researchers and consultants. Their knowledge of business management principles and current business issues—plus their ability to apply that knowledge in the classroom—is a stimulating and challenging resource for an enriched educational experience. From finance to manufacturing strategy, from marketing to organizational behavior, from decision making to logistics, Fisher College faculty are shaping the future of business.

*Interaction with top executives from major companies and organizations
There are numerous opportunities for students to network with Fisher College’s extensive alumni base. Through the college’s on-campus recruiting program, representatives from more than 300 top companies attend career conferences, job forums and internship fairs. The Office of Career Services actively partners with students, helping students with career direction, resume writing, negotiation, personal marketing and interviewing techniques. And, a sophisticated database program helps students easily identify a broad list of potential employers.

*Rigorous, team-oriented curriculum based on real-world learning experiences and leadership development
Fisher College’s curriculum is rigorous, challenging and relevant. Because of the program’s small size, the college can adapt curriculum quickly to address current business topics. In addition, Fisher College’s world-renowned faculty bring their research into the classroom, leaving graduates well-prepared to address challenges in the business world. Providing MBA students with the critical global expertise they will need is another area where Fisher College excels. MBA students can experience foreign languages and cultures through a variety of non-credit workshops, speakers, or other events. For those who want to travel, options include MBA courses with short term travel abroad, longer term study abroad at any of the college’s 20 international partners, or participation in programs offering global service learning or consultancy opportunities during internship or following graduation. Real-world experience is also vital; the college hosts a number of successful experiential learning programs that involve small student consulting groups.

Student profile

At Fisher College of Business, success is defined by the character of its people and connections with the global community. Fisher College’s small classes instill a sense of community and kinship, building a “learning by doing” environment. As a result, graduates add immediate value to their employers and to the world.

Fisher College’s small classes also ensure that students can’t hide in the back of the classroom. Students are encouraged to engage faculty and fellow students in lively debate and to provide valuable input on the state of the program and curriculum.

Over the past year Fisher College has placed even greater emphasis on the importance of ethics, honesty and accountability. In response, students committed to ethical behavior within the college and workplace by creating the college’s first honor code. The students also facilitated fundraisers, hosted charity drives and partnered with companies on volunteer activities.

This community-minded leadership reinforces the fact that Fisher College students create and execute innovative ideas. They are self-motivated leaders who affect positive corporate change. They enjoy challenging our equally motivated professors and take advantage of our faculty’s groundbreaking research. Most importantly, they are risk takers who are not afraid to stand out and make a significant impact on the world.
