MBA
The State University of New York (SUNY) University at Albany (UAlbany)’s School of Business is located on the grounds of its 586-acre campus in Albany, the capital of New York State. It is dual-AACSB-accredited, with its well-regarded full-time MBA program noted as one of the best-quality, affordable MBA programs offered within the state.
The two-year UAlbany full-time MBA program allows students to work collaboratively in the first year and then focus on a specific study area in the second year, with six career-focused concentrations. These include cyber security, entrepreneurship, finance, marketing, human resource information systems (HRIS), and information systems & business analytics (ISBA).
The UAlbany MBA program includes its G3 (Going Green Globally) capstone course, which all students take during their first year. The G3 is an intensive, one-week exercise where students work collaboratively to solve 21st-century problems of sustainability for real-life business clients. The MBA Experience is a faculty-led program for second-year MBA students, designed to facilitate acquisition of real-life, hands-on skills through field projects, research projects, and mentorships within their chosen areas of concentration.
The full-time MBA course at UAlbany is selective, with an admissions rate of 39.1% (55%). It features a small cohort of students – approximately 100 on the full-time MBA course, with an additional 175 on the part-time and 56 on the weekend MBA courses – with small class sizes of around 41 students, enabling close working relationships between students and faculty. Classes comprise a little over half (52%) female students (it has been recognized by The Princeton Review for offering opportunities to women) and 9% international students.
There is also the Part-Time Evening (one to two evenings a week over two to six years) and the Executive Weekend MBA (weekend-only over 21-22 months, with a built-in executive trip abroad offering opportunities to learn first-hand from international business leaders in countries including Italy, Slovenia, Argentina, Peru, Ireland, Poland, India, China, Hungary, Czech Republic, Croatia, and Germany), as well as a dual-degree JD/MBA, typically completed over four years.
With an MBA being a prerequisite of the top-10 highest-paying jobs in New York, the affordable UAlbany MBA represents a good-value investment. Post-graduation, 98% of full-time MBA students were employed within three months. Employers and internship providers have included A&E Television Networks, Moody’s, Deloitte, IBM, Disney, GE, Microsoft, Bloomberg, Apple, Ernst & Young, Frontrunner Network Systems, Flink Smith, Collaborative Solutions, Conway & Kirby, PwC, Goldman Sachs, and others.
