Global Banking and Finance MBA Overview

The Birmingham full-time MBAs are well-established programs. They are triple accredited by leading bodies AACSB, AMBA, and EQUIS. There are two options available for study; the International Business MBA, and the Global Business and Finance MBA. Both programs are 12-month intensive programs (although can be studied part-time over two and a half to six years).

The Global Banking and Finance is designed for graduates who aspire to develop careers in global banking and finance. Students are expected to have a minimum of three years of professional finance-related work experience. The program aims to improve management and technical skills by focusing on key areas such as international banking, financial markets, and venture capital finance. The core modules are the same as the International Business MBA, and include human resource management, and marketing concepts and practice. However the optional modules differ in some aspects, and include global marketing leadership, ethics in global business, and international business.

There are various opportunities for MBA students at the Birmingham Business School, including a residential weekend business stimulation, which requires students to manage a ‘company’ team in competition with other teams. This gives students the ability to view and manage rapidly changing ‘real-world’ data, and enable them to replicate business situations.

There is a bespoke learning environment available for MBA students at the Birmingham Business School. MBA students have exclusive access to the second floor of the new postgraduate space, the Alan Walters Building. The facilities available include a dedicated computer cluster, Harvard-style lecture theatre, and seminar rooms.

Both programs are currently available for £25,950 (US$35,953).

Graduates from the MBA programs have gone on to work for companies such as BP, GE, IBM, Accenture, Unilever, Deloitte, and HSBC.
