The MBET program equips students with the business knowledge, skills, and experience to move ideas and innovations into commercial practice.

Students take core business courses such as marketing, finance, and accounting; with a focus on their application in entrepreneurship, commercialization and innovation. Entrepreneurial experiences are are embedded in the MBET curriculum through several practical activities which provide real-world context and hands-on application of classroom learning.

The MBET learning environment is collegial, collaborative, and dynamic, favouring workshop-style classes, group projects, and an emphasis on individualized mentorship. Guest speakers from industry, events, and entrepreneurs-in-residence offer informal learning and networking opportunities. Students are surrounded by professional peers working to advance their own ventures and entrepreneurial identities, in a highly supportive and energetic atmosphere.

MBET graduates are well prepared to launch an entrepreneurial career. Alumni commonly start and run their own companies, work for start-ups, as consultants, find roles within the entrepreneurship ecosystem, or join larger companies in innovative roles. Students graduate with a strong professional network developed through the program’s experiential components, and a versatile skill set that prepares them to find, evaluate, and pursue business opportunities while building an entrepreneurial career where they can lead and make an impact. The MBET program is offered in 2 formats: the full-time program which is completed in one year and the part-time program which is completed in three years.

FAQs

Unlike an MBA program, the MBET offers: A collaborative environment where students and instructors work together and in groups on an on-going basis An active space where the "traditional" classroom setting is pushed aside in favour of a "startup culture" where the sharing of ideas, goals, and even failures is encouraged An opportunity to work side-by-side with successful leaders of technology companies, investors, and experts in the field of entrepreneurship An environment of learning for the sake of achieving goals rather than solving problems that may occur in the future Practical, hands-on opportunities to develop your business idea and the skills and tools you need to succeed
The MBET program is very unique and we are looking for unique and driven individuals who are passionate about entrepreneurship. In order to accommodate all our students and offer the one-on-one mentoring necessary to help them succeed, we keep our class size fairly small: maximum 50 students.
MBET graduates have moved on to a variety of successful careers, with 45% going on to lead a startup and 42% becoming involved in a startup. Other grads have found great success in consulting roles for companies such as: Google, Facebook, Research in Motion, Salesforce, Deloitte, Mount Sinai Hospital, Microsoft, OpenText and many more.
The interview is a great opportunity for us to really get to know you and why you are interested in the MBET. We're looking for individuals who want to make a difference and take charge of their careers, and the best way to find this out is not through reviewing a test score (we do NOT require our students to take the GMAT), or reading an application package, it's through talking to you and learning more about who you are and what you're passionate about. The interview is informal and allows us to get to know you, and you to get to know Conrad.
