Haas School of Business, the business school at the University of California at Berkeley (UC Berkeley), is the second-oldest business school in the United States. It offers a full-time, two-year MBA program, the Berkeley MBA, in addition to two concurrent (dual-degree) options, an MBA/JD (law) and an MBA/MPA (health management), as well as MBA exchanges with Columbia Business School in New York.

The Berkeley MBA program is about leadership, fresh thinking, and an incredibly talented, diverse, collaborative community. By leveraging the energy that's ever-present in the Berkeley-Haas culture and in the business ecosystem of the San Francisco Bay Area, the program teaches students how to seize opportunities, challenge conventional wisdom, and act creatively.

The Berkeley MBA program is anchored in a rigorous general-management curriculum, which provides a breadth and depth of theoretical and practical knowledge to prepare students to be leaders in any type of organization in any part of the world. The core curriculum provides a solid foundation in business fundamentals – including marketing, finance, accounting, and operations – with options for students to customize the program through elective courses in the second year, with active-learning options for internships and international study in the summer.

Core and elective courses are taught with a global focus, with additional opportunities for immersive, experiential global learning through an International Business Development (IBD) program, where half the students are sent to various countries for consulting projects with clients ranging from large multinationals to the non-profit sector.

Through Berkeley’s membership of the Global Network for Advanced Management (GNAM), students can study abroad during global network weeks or take global network courses at other GNAM member schools to explore developments in emerging markets. Other opportunities to study abroad are available through exchange programs via partnerships with HKUST in Hong Kong, IESE in Barcelona, HEC in France, and the London Business School in the UK. There are also student-organized global business treks to Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Classes are diverse, with 44% international students, 43% women, and 25% US multi-ethnic minorities. Students have a median average of five years’ work experience, and come from a wide range of industries, predominantly in the technology/telecoms (38.8%) and consulting (19.1%) sectors, as well as financial services (12%), CPG/retail (11.5%), health/biotech/pharma (6.6%), and energy (4.4%).

Post-graduation, of those students in the 2016 class who reported financial information, the average (median base) salary was US$122,488, with a mean sign-on bonus of US$24,777. Top jobs by function included business development/strategy, consulting and corporate social responsibility. Top employers included Microsoft, Levi Strauss Company, Facebook and Goldman Sachs.
