Full Time MBA Overview

Maastricht Management School (MSM) combines being one of the oldest management schools in the Netherlands, with 65 years’ experience, with pioneering developments such as ‘Industry 4.0’, which saw MSM shortlisted for the prestigious AMBA Innovation Award in 2014 and 2016.

The full-time MBA is a one-year residential program taught at the Maastricht campus, which consists of eight modular lecturer sessions and a final project, usually either an academic research paper, business consultancy project, or business plan.

The full-time MSM MBA offers students an experience of the essential organizational leadership and entrepreneurial management skills required to perform effectively in a fast-changing, multicultural, and global business environment. MSM subscribes to high ethical standards in business, and strongly promotes corporate social responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development, along with those other ethical business directives mandated by the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME), to which it subscribes.

Throughout the MSM MBA program, students are challenged to develop a range of business-critical skills. These include intercultural communication, team leadership, collaboration, critical thinking, creativity, problem-solving, self-awareness, resilience, and effective time management. The MSM MBA utilizes interactive lectures, individual and group assignments, company visits, and guest lectures to provide students with the knowledge, tools, and skills needed to manage effectively, as well as the ability to gain a deeper understanding of how to manage responsibly.

As part of the full-time MBA program, students take an innovative, one-week Chief’s Certificate Program on Innovation Management course, offered in collaboration with RWTH Aachen University in Germany. Topics vary from year to year depending on the needs of the market and MBA students’ interests. The certificate course was developed for, and successfully implemented by, top German executives. Students receive a German Executive Education Certificate on completion of the course.

There’s also a range of specializations available to enable students to customize their MBA; these include entrepreneurship, international business and sustainable development, accounting & finance, the digital economy, sports management, healthcare management, wine management, and public sector management.

In addition, MBA students have opportunities for study abroad with partner institutions in countries all over the world. These include China, Vietnam, and Peru, with a double-degree MBA/MM (master of management) option available in partnership with Nichols College in Massachusetts, US.

MSM provides students with a dedicated career services, with a special-purpose, optional career and personal development track (CPDT) service to help students achieve their career goals. These include networking events, CV workshops, collaboration with MSM’s corporate partner recruiters, self-awareness and leadership coaching, business challenges, presentation skills training, and a CV book presented to MSM’s corporate partners.

Students can also take advantage of various on-campus extracurricular clubs and activities, including a visit to companies in the cross-border Euregion area followed by a dinner, participation in the Maastricht Entrepreneurship Week, and various other networking and social events.
