Program overview

MBA
The Sheffield EMBA in Advanced Manufacturing provides a forum for analysing and communicating the latest thinking in both professional practice and in the academic arena. You will develop skills in the analysis of business situations and the development of solutions to problems, providing an excellent foundation for further career development to higher levels of management. The programme is concerned with management from an operational and strategic perspective, and covers all the core functions of business organisations that have a particular emphasis on manufacturing. It takes an interdisciplinary perspective on the nature of managing organisations, creating new ventures, leading change, managing large projects and bringing operational quality improvement. The two international field trips offer a unique international dimension to the programme. The first field trip integrates the management of technological innovation and corporate entrepreneurship in the context of an advanced manufacturing economy. The second field trip allows students to act as consultants for manufacturers in an emerging economy. Finally, the EMBA dissertation allows the student to undertake a significant investigation in a particular organisation or across a group of organisations in a particular sector.
