International Full Time MBA Overview

Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University (or RSM) is the triple-accredited international business school of Erasmus University Rotterdam in Rotterdam, Netherlands. Its flagship one-year full-time international MBA is known as the Rotterdam MBA.

The Rotterdam MBA aims to provide students with a professional passport to a career anywhere in the world. The diverse setting provides a context for a global mindset, with an intensely international class (usually 97%). The program emphasizes developing a critical mind and an innovative approach, with a focus on collaboration and sustainability to put students ahead of the curve in finding solutions for challenging issues facing the global economy.

RSM uses a revolutionary approach in its international full-time MBA based on an innovative personal leadership development (PLD) program. This enables students to discover what motivates both others and themselves, and thereby become a better leader of others. It also utilizes an entrepreneurial approach to help turn students’ ideas into innovations, with support from the Erasmus Centre for Entrepreneurship at the Rotterdam Science Tower – home to over 50 start-ups

The program is split into four terms, with the first term focusing on the foundations of management; the second on the practice of management – as relevant across different areas (e.g. HR, marketing, operations, etc) and foci; the third on advanced career options, including a career (elective) concentration, as well as an intense, three-week living management consulting project, where students work in teams to devise solutions to a business problem within a company.

The Rotterdam MBA program concludes with the fourth term, which focuses on electives and includes opportunities to gain relevant international experience through international study tours and/or an optional internship, which gives students valuable experience and can help to secure a role with an employer. Previous RSM MBA students have taken internships with companies including Nike, ABN AMRO, McKinsey, Amazon, Microsoft, and the World Bank, among others.

International study tour options include experiential learning, with the choice of the Catalunya Leadership Journey in Spain or a mindfulness-oriented leadership retreat in the Bergplaas Nature Reserve in South Africa’s Karoo region; the Dual Degree China, with an opportunity for acquiring a joint degree via study at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK); exchange study with a partner institution – with a choice from over 100 leading business schools and universities, including Duke University, Wharton, IE, HKUST, CEIBS, Melbourne Business School, and others.

RSM offers its international full-time MBA students personal coaching, mentoring, and networking opportunities throughout the program, and focuses on helping students discover their next steps. It offers a dedicated Career Development Centre (CDC), set up intentionally to help students discover their dream jobs.

Post-graduation, 87% of students are employed within three months, earning US$121,776 – representing an increase of 98%.
