Are the GMATs required for admission?
The GMAT is ONLY required for applicants to the MBA programs with a GPA of less than 3.25.
The GMAT can also be waived if you exhibit any of the following criteria: Advanced Degree (MA, MS, MD, JD, CPA); have significant business experience (you have worked steadily in a managerial position for more than seven years since acquiring your bachelor's degree).
In order to secure a work waiver, your current supervisor must submit a letter, on your behalf. The letter must be on company letterhead, detailing the managerial aspects of your position, and requesting a GMAT waiver.
Do you need to have work experience to be accepted into Iona’s MBA Program?
No. Many students do have considerable work experience; however, it is not a prerequisite for admission.
Can any classes be waived?
Up to 24 credits or 8 classes can be waived based on relevant course work taken during your undergraduate studies. Those classes would have needed to be taken over the past 7 years and had a grade of B or better in the class. The 8 courses that can be waived are:
Statistics
Principles of Financial Accounting
Basic Microeconomics Analysis and Basic Macroeconomics Analysis
Production and Operations Management
Principles of Finance
Principles of Marketing
Principles of Management
Management of Information Systems
Can I complete an entire program through on-line courses?
No. However, we do offer approximately four or five distance learning courses per trimester.
