Full Time MBA Overview

The Macquarie Graduate School of Management is the business education wing of one of Australia’s most famous and respected universities. The Macquarie full-time MBA is based on the principles of leadership, global thinking, sustainable value, and citizenship, and the course aims to produce thoughtful businesspeople with a thorough academic grounding on which to base their confident, agile business leadership.

Applicants for the Macquarie full-time MBA program must submit the normal documents, including undergraduate grade transcripts, CVs and letters of recommendation. However, on top of this applicants must also have a minimum of two years of managerial or professional experience; this requirement reflects the program’s leadership focus – standard work experience is not sufficient. Tuition for the full MBA course costs around US$60,000, and each of the two years can be taken separately for 50% of the cost. On top of this, individual units can be taken for just under US$4,000 each, allowing students a lot of flexibility in terms of how they structure the course. Macquarie also advises students to budget around US$100 per unit for books and materials.

With its flexible structure in mind, the Macquarie full-time MBA program is more academic and module-based than other more project-led courses. Students must complete a broad range of core modules, which include operations management, marketing management, and accounting for management. Elective courses then follow, allowing students to focus on such areas as financial strategy and entrepreneurship, or continue to follow a general, broad-based curriculum. Internships with leading Australian companies, often with an international focus, are available to all students, and career support is also offered to help students prepare for post-graduation applications and interviews.

Upon graduating, Macquarie MBA students have an average salary of US$120,945, which is high not only for Australia, but in global terms too, beating many prestigious US and European schools. What’s more, over 90% of graduates from the Macquarie MBA course find employment within three months of graduation – a particularly strong statistic which demonstrates the simple career value of the course. The strong internship program at the school is partly responsible for this, with Macquarie maintaining close ties with trusted corporate partners, who benefit from the professionalism and insight Macquarie students can bring, and therefore are very open to hiring them after graduation.
