Full Time Overview

The McGill MBA program is two-years in duration, and is delivered by the Desautels Faculty of Management. The program uses a unique integrated management approach that teaches students how to work across managerial boundaries, organizational functions, and in international contexts. Within each year, the program is divided between academics, and professional development. The first year academics involve foundation learning in business statistics, financial accounting, and math for finance. At the end of first year students will choose their concentration of study for the second year of the MBA program. Concentrations include global strategy and leadership, finance, marketing, and business analytics. Career and professional development in the first year includes networking, mentoring, and personalized career coaching, along with internship recruitment. During the second year of the MBA program, it includes specialization, internships, and working towards your new career through recruitment workshops. Unique to the Desautels MBA program, is a 10-day organized study abroad course, which provides students with a knowledge of international business and context. The trip includes visits to significant international business destinations, where students can explore issues to be considered when an organization enters a new, foreign market. Students partake in on-site company visits, meetings with senior executives, classroom settings, workshops and seminars. The class profile of the MBA program is relatively small, with only 70-90 students, allowing for a more personalized MBA experience. There are, on average, 30 countries represented in class, with 30% female students. 40% of students have English as their first language, and 95% of students are bilingual. 60% of students are trilingual. The average age of students is 28, with approximately five years of prior work experience before applying. The school has an 81% average placement rate within 3 months of graduation for its MBA graduates. The average base salary is US$89, 500, with a signing bonus of US$15,110. Graduates have gone on to work companies for at both domestic and international locations. Hiring companies include Group Dynamite, National Bank of Canada, Capital One, CAE, BMO, Deloitte, Google, United Nations, KPMG, PwC, Credit Suisse Group, Christian Dior, and AIG Japan.
