Highest MBA Salary from Finance Firms, Stanford Graduates: MBA News main image

Stanford MBA graduates stand to earn the highest MBA salary levels when they work for finance firms, according to the school.

Though unsurprising news for many, the US$150,000 median MBA salary reported by Stanford alumni represents a far higher figure than that reported by those working for tech companies, US$115,500. Meanwhile, consulting firms pay Stanford MBAs on average US$135,000.

Further, as reported by Quartz, the gap between how much industries pay Stanford MBA graduates is widening. While financial firms have increased the levels of MBA pay being offered over the last few years, tech firms have continued with similar levels of pay.

According to Stanford, at least 72% of their MBA graduates over the past four years have entered into the finance, consulting or tech sectors (excluding entrepreneurs and employer sponsored students).

Of these three industries, perhaps unsurprisingly because of the superior MBA salary levels offered, finance is the most popular with 32% of Stanford MBAs securing employment in the sector, while 24% entered the tech sector.

There's also good news for the current Stanford MBA class about to graduate - 78% of them are likely to already have job offers, if last year's class is anything to go by. Further, 71% of the 2012 Stanford MBAs had accepted job offers by the time of graduation.
