"With a double majors degree in Economic and Business management, more than 10 years of work experience in the Reserve Bank of Fiji and holding the position of Manager Banking Supervision, it became necessary that I undertake a Masters Degree in order to learn new things and progress further in my professional career.
"I was awarded a British Chevening Scholarship to attend Bangor University and undertake the MBA Banking and Finance program. The MBA program was very intense. iT offered the latest development and thinking in the area of banking and finance. This was made possible by the well structured program and modules which were taught by lecturers who are renowned in their respective fields of expertise. With the student mix from the various parts of the world, the studying experience was truly unique, especially for a student like me that came from a dot island in the South Pacific.
"And so not only did I learn new things but my career progressed very rapidly in the financial industry. Seven months after completing the program, I held various senior executive positions in various financial institutions until in July 2007 I was appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the Capital Markets Development Authority. This statutory institution is responsible for the regulations, supervision and development of the capital markets industry."
