The School
The Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) is the top management institute in the Asia Pacific region, building business leaders who combine a thorough grounding in all major functional areas with an international perspective. Today, our alumni head over 40 of India's top companies and can be found in leading positions in many multinational organizations and consulting firms. The pedagogy of the institute is predominantly case-based, though lectures, role-plays, simulations and computer exercises are also used in the classrooms. Teamwork and co-opetition is encouraged using group projects and exercises. The emphasis is on application of management philosophy, team building, problem solving and decision making under ill-structured and uncertain situations.

The Faculty
Members of the faculty at IIMA design and lead all teaching, research and consulting programs. IIMA's faculty members are distinguished by their sustained research contributions in various areas of management and strong practitioner-oriented teaching and consulting. Almost all of the eighty faculty members are doctorates in management and related disciplines from prominent institutions the world over.

The Postgraduate Program
Around 300 students are selected every year from among 2,00,000 applicants. The selections are based on their performance in an aptitude test and a personal interview. Not surprisingly, IIMA attracts the best young minds in India. Careful selection ensures that each batch has a rich mix of cultural and educational backgrounds, as well as diverse professional experiences, making for stimulating and enriching interaction among students.
With consistent focus on international management trends, the institution has a student exchange program with many leading Universities in Europe, South East Asia, and North America and its students regularly participate in various international symposia and contests.

Schools Exchange
In keeping with its vision of becoming a truly global management institute, IIMA takes pride in its international student exchange program. IIMA has tied up with more than 50 busness schools around the world for its exchange programs. Around 80 IIMA students from a batch of 300 spend a term abroad and an equal number of foreign students spend a term at IIMA. IIMA also has two dual degree programs, one with ESSEC, Paris, and another with the University of Bocconi.
