Martin J. Whitman School of Management, Syracuse University

Overview

The Whitman School of Management M.B.A. program has a diverse, talented, and interactive student body. Nearly one third of the 100 full-time M.B.A. students are women, and approximately 50 percent are from outside the United States. The majority of the M.B.A. students have worked full-time for at least one year prior to enrolling; the average is three years.

Undergraduate majors include such diverse areas as history, engineering, nursing, accounting, and economics. Small classes, averaging 30 students or fewer, help create a feeling of intimacy within a large collegiate environment of 18,500 students and prepare graduates for today’s team-oriented organizational environment.

New students begin the fall semester with Learning Is a Team Effort (LITE) Week, a week-long orientation program; participants include the faculty and distinguished business leaders. LITE Week offers new students opportunities for building teams and support groups and an introduction to other personal skills areas, including managing conflict, communication, ethics in management, and teamwork and groups.
