Almost all MBA students have professional
work experience, many in high-tech industries, such
as telecommunications or software, and others in
industries like health care or financial services, where
technology is the key to a competitive advantage. A
technical background is not essential for the MBA, but
all students must be willing to learn about technology
and the management challenges it creates. More
than 76 percent of MBA students have undergraduate
degrees in business, computer science, or engineering.
The rest come from a variety of fields, including the
natural and social sciences.
The average full-time MBA student has 3.6 years
of work experience; the average part-time student has
9 years of professional experience. Women comprise
approximately 25% of each entering class; members
of minority groups account for approximately 13%;
international students account for approximately 33%
of the full-time class.
