Overview

London Business School is a graduate School of the University of London. It was established in 1965 to provide a centre of excellence in management education. In 1986, the School was granted a Royal Charter in recognition of its international stature and its commitment to management education. London Business School’s international masters degree programmes are career oriented and practical while maintaining high standards of rigour and scholarship.

The flexible 21 month full-time MBA programme is an international MBA for outstanding young professionals. The programme emphasises implementation and internationalism. Projects, fieldwork, a summer job, consulting assignments and a choice from over 70 elective courses are key features of this programme. It is highly practical and attracts successful young managers with an average of 5 years work experience from over 60 countries. By pursuing specific elective choices, it is now possible to complete the MBA earlier in 15 and 18 months of full-time study.

The Executive MBA develops the managerial capabilities of exceptional individuals without interrupting their careers. The programme’s format of core courses on the Friday’s and Saturday’s of alternate weeks means participants can reconcile a rigorous general management education with the demands of a full-time job. The core course includes up to two one-week international assignments to major business centres overseas, and more than 70 elective courses are offered. It is the equivalent of our full-time MBA, but is studied part-time and can be completed in 20 months.

EMBA-Global is offered jointly with Columbia Business School in New York. Aimed at talented individuals with trans-national responsibilities, it is designed to equip high-achievers with the tools of international leadership. It is a five-term, 20-month programme. The first year is structured in a convenient once-a-month class schedule alternating between London and New York. The second year consists of company project work, electives that can be taken at either or both schools and a week long international seminar.

The unique and specialist Masters in Finance is practical and career oriented, and provides a thorough training in the principles and practice of finance. It can be completed in ten months full-time, or in 22 months of mostly weekend attendance. The programme is widely regarded as the pre-eminent qualification for finance professionals and is designed for those pursuing, or planning to pursue, careers in the financial services industry or in the finance function of business.

The Sloan Fellowship is an 11-month full-time programme leading to an MSc in Management. It was initiated at London Business School by Professor Charles Handy following an endowment by the Alfred P Sloan Foundation. The Sloan Masters is offered exclusively at London Business School, MIT and Stanford. The Sloan Fellowship is designed to develop mature and experienced managers, professionals and entrepreneurs for the most senior positions in international business and industry or for establishing successful new ventures. It blends academic theory and leading management practice in the classroom and in world-wide international assignments and project work.

The Masters in Management is a pre-experience programme designed for outstanding individuals with an undergraduate degree, but little or no work experience. The transformational 11 month programme provides a foundation for a successful career in business and beyond. The programme has one intake each September.

London Business School also offers a wide range of world-leading Executive Education programmes that have been designed to provide you with the skills you need to overcome your critical business challenges. The programmes range from 2-days to 4-weeks in length.

Each programme has its own admissions policies and requirements, but for acceptance into any London Business School Masters programme, the following minimum standards are required:

* a good university degree, or an equivalent professional qualification
* a good score on the GMAT
* high levels of written and spoken English
