Overview

The Nagoya University of Commerce and Business (NUCB) was established in 1935 by Dr. Yuichi Kurimoto, the first Japanese citizen to graduate from Canada's prestigious University of Alberta. Returning to Japan with a first-hand appreciation for the internationalization of higher education and the value of studying abroad, NUCB was founded under a 'Frontier Spirit' that reflected the times and the future potential of a progressive, global mindset over 80 years ago.

The mission of the NUCB Business School guided by a 'Frontier Spirit', is to develop leaders and entrepreneurs with a global perspective, advanced management skills, and high ethical standards that will equip them to succeed in bridging the gap between New Asia and the rest of the world. In order to achieve this mission, NUCB has been active in achieving top international accreditation (AACSB and AMBA) and partnerships in leading higher education organizations including the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRIME), and the Association of Asia Pacific Business Schools (AAPBS).

Based in downtown Nagoya and benefitting from the Greater Nagoya Initiative; a joint organization between governments, industries, universities, and businesses both local and foreign aiming to build upon Nagoya's reputation as the 'manufacturing backbone.' Nagoya is located in the central region of Japan which provides great access to other parts of the country, including Kyoto, Osaka, and Tokyo. Scheduled for completion in the next 10 years, Japan's first Maglev Bullet Train will connect Nagoya with Tokyo in only 40 minutes (currently the fastest route takes approximately 100 minutes). From Nagoya Station, the NUCB Business School campus is only 15 minutes on foot and less than five minutes by subway.

The NUCB Business School Nagoya Marunouchi Tower Campus stands at an impressive fourteen-stories that is entirely owned and operated by NUCB. The campus includes a fitness center, cafe and student lounge, library, quiet study room and faculty offices for the students and staff. The auditorium style classrooms are designed specifically for facilitating NUCB's 100% case method policy of active learning and the top floor is reserved as a theater hall with seating for 300. The look and feel of the Marunouchi Tower Campus combines academic tradition with innovation. Students at our campus get accustomed to using state-of-the-art technology for presentations and business in an environment that has been meticulously designed down to the last detail.
