The Otago MBA is New Zealand's #1 MBA programme, complete with a rigorous academic curriculum, real-life cases, professional development workshops, a mentor programme and networking activities. It is ranked among the top 200 worldwide and in the top 10 in Oceania by QS.

The full-time Otago MBA is a two-phase programme, which can be completed in 15 months to two years depending on elective choices in phase 2. Phase 1 comprises about 10 months of on-campus study covering 12 core subjects and professional development. Phase 2 is highly flexible, with a wide range of specialization choices through on-campus electives, international exchange or a business project.

The Otago MBA’s professional development programme is highly comprehensive, and consists of:

  • professional development workshops on interviewing and business networking skills
  • one-to-one personal coaching on goal setting and career direction
  • seminars covering special topics or current affairs to enrich students’ appreciation of businesses and economic scenarios
  • guest speakers noted for their significant contribution in the industry
  • networking events with professional bodies
  • mentor programme – rare in the MBA world, students are assigned practising business executives as mentors.

International student exchange 

Many Otago MBA students choose the student exchange to widen their international experience and open up further specialization choices. Their exchange partners include around 20 world renowned universities and business schools in the US, Europe, Asia and Latin America. These include:

The Otago MBA Business Project is a chance to perform on a large stage and gain top-notch networking experience. It is framed as a professional consulting engagement aligned with students’ career ambitions, to help them gain access to the right industry, company or professional network.
