Harvard Business School’s Rock Center announces 15 teams for Rock Accelerator Program

Harvard Business School’s Arthur Rock Center for Entrepreneurship has announced 15 teams that have been selected for the Rock Accelerator. Since 1947, the study of entrepreneurship has been a vital part of the Harvard Business School MBA program. The goal is for teams to emerge from the program with a strong foundation for building or expanding a market-ready product.

As part of a professional education course at the London Business School, the students – mainly senior executives and board members – venture across Regent’s Park and visit the London Zoo with an anthropologist.

The purpose of the visit is to consider the differences and similarities between people and animals, and learn about the human species in the process.

Former Maryland governor Parris Glendening has joined the faculty at the Johns Hopkins University Carey Business School as an executive visiting professor focusing on community design, smart growth, and real estate & infrastructure.

CEOs’ cultural heritage could affect corporate performance

Led by academics from University of Edinburgh Business School and the University of St Andrews, a study analyzed the performance of banks directed by more than 600 US-born chief executive officers who were children or grandchildren of immigrants.

The study found leaders whose cultural heritage emphasizes restraint, group-mindedness, and long-term orientation were safer, more cost-efficient and as a result more likely to perform under pressure.
