The DeGroote School of Business offers a number of program options, all leading to an MBA degree.
1) Our Co-op program is a 28-month program that combines 4 full-time academic terms and 3 paid work terms.
2) Our Full-time program can be completed in 16 months. Students also have the option of taking a 4-month summer break between their first and second year, thereby extending their Full-time program to 20 months. Students who take this break may wish to pursue an summer internship opportunity or travel abroad.
3) Our Part-time program is flexible and consists of 20 courses. Students may take up to 2 courses per term. When work/life gets busy, students also have the option of reducing their course-load or taking an entire term off if necessary. The Part-time program can be completed in as little as 3 years and one term, with the average student taking 4-5 years to complete their degree.
4) Our Accelerated program allows business graduates to complete their MBA in half the time, for half the cost. The Accelerated Full-time program can be completed in 8 months. The Accelerated Part-time program can be completed in as little as 20 months.
Do I need to have work experience?
Work experience is required for all international students and for those domestic applicants who are applying for the full-time and accelerated options. Domestic applicants do not need work experience for the co-op program.
What do we mean when we say "work experience"? Well, we're looking for a minimum one year of full-time, continuous professional, managerial, or technical work experience. We are interested in your leadership, accountability, project management and people skills. Undergrad co-op or internship placements (totalling 12 months) from a North American institution will also be considered, but they must either be noted on your official transcript or confirmed in a letter from your school.
Is the GMAT mandatory?
Yes! All applicants must successfully write the GMAT - no exceptions. We're looking for a minimum verbal score of 28, and a minimum quantitative score of 37. A total score of 600 is normally competitive.
Do you offer an international exchange program?
Yes! DeGroote's BizX International Exchange Program allows MBA students to study abroad at one of our partner universities during their third academic term. MBA exchange opportunities are available at 26 different schools across 15 countries. Through the BizX Program, you will develop a broader perspective of the world, which will help you to view challenges in a new way and prepare you for success in today’s global economy.
Going abroad is an opportunity for you to distinguish yourself with your classmates. The BizX Program offers an unparalleled opportunity for immersion in another culture, often in another language. You will expand your global network and have experiences that will make you stand out with employers.

If I'm in the Co-op program, are my work term placements guaranteed?
Students in the Co-op program receive amazing career support from DeGroote's Centre for Business Career Development (CBCD). While work term placements are not guaranteed, our work-term placement rate typically exceeds an average of 95%. CBCD will seek out and secure the employer opportunities and make the job postings available to our Co-op students. While we offer a wide variety of positions across a variety of business sectors, some students may wish to pursue an independent job search so long as the position meets the co-op criteria and is approved by the CBCD Relationship Managers. In the end, it is up to each individual student to apply to the positions, secure the interview and impress the employer.
