Michael Smurfit’s New Autobiography and other MBA News Snippets

The Irish businessman, Michael Smurfit, has published his autobiography. A Life Worth Living was launched at the postgraduate business school of University College Dublin, named Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business for the financial backing he has given to the school.

Smurfit is the former chairman and CEO of the multinational paper and packaging company, Jefferson Smurfit Group, now known as The Smurfit Kappa Group. He is worth an estimated US$368 million, according to the 2010 Irish Independent Rich List.

At the book’s launch, Smurfit revealed how he lost a huge personal fortune after 2008’s collapse in bank shares. He also outlined his interest in entrepreneurship and new technology, something that has seen him invest in 4 unnamed Irish businesses in the past year.

Central European University Business School in new partnership

Two leading Central European business schools have announced a partnership. Beginning September 2014, the full-time international MBA available at the Warsaw University of Technology Business School will be offered as part of the full-time MBA program at Budapest’s Central European University Business School. Most classes will take place at Budapest with teaching coming from a combination of both schools’ faculty.

IE Business School Launches New MBA program for Asian Business focus

IE Business School and Singapore Management University have launched a new 10-month MBA program combining online study with 17 days of face-to-face classes in both Madrid and Singapore. The IE-SMU MBA offers a general focus on Asian business and begins proceedings this fall. More details here.
