This evening, IESE alumni will have the chance to benefit from the experience of Harvard Business School’s (HBS) dean, Nitin Nohria, in an event that celebrates the 50th anniversary of collaboration between HBS and IESE.
Nitin Nohria’s discussion with IESE alumni will focus on what lessons can be drawn from Asia to improve the long-term competitiveness of European companies, with particular attention paid to innovative leadership.
The Harvard dean, known for his expertise on the subject of global leadership, will seek to convey to IESE alumni the significance of new approaches to development, customer service and business models, as well as innovative leadership styles, in aiding the growth of large companies based in Asia.
Nitin Nohria will then suggest how the Asian example could help European companies to rethink their concept of innovative leadership and help them maintain their long-term competitiveness.
The suggestion that changes emanating from an emerging market such as Asia can then be adopted in Western markets is central to the concept of reverse innovation – a term popularized by Dartmouth Tuck professors, Chris Trimble and Vijay Govindarajan.
The IESE alumni event with Nitin Nohria, entitled ‘Innovative Leadership: Learning from Asian Companies’, will take place at the IESE Business School’s Barcelona campus and will be moderated by its dean, Jordi Canals.
Collaboration between IESE and Harvard Business School in the form of the Harvard-IESE Committee passed the 50-year mark back in October 2013. According to IESE, the committee is designed to enable the two schools to, “share experiences, exchange ideas and projects, discuss common problems and offer each other new perspectives.”
