Vlerick Business School set to open new MBA campus in Brussels: MBA News

In October 2013, Vlerick Business School will open a new campus in Brussels. With a reputation as a financial powerhouse, Brussels, which boasts more Global Fortune companies than 22 capitals of the other 27 EU countries, was seen as a natural choice for Vlerick.

Phillipe Haspeslagh, Dean of Vlerick Business School states in a press release issued by the business school, "Brussels just made sense. Many of our corporate partners are there. Our faculty consult there regularly. Our students work there. It was clear we needed to be there".

The opening of the new campus in Brussels marks an expansion for Vlerick which already boasts a number of campuses around the globe in major cities such as Leuven, Ghent, St. Petersburg, Beijing and Johannesburg.

New Vlerick Business School campus to benefit both Brussels-based businesses and MBA Students in the long-term

The new 4800 m² state-of-the-art learning, research and networking facility built at a cost of €5.7 million was seen by Vlerick as a worthwhile and necessary long-term investment for both its students and businesses based in Brussels.

As Dean Haspeslagh explained, “We built the campus with a vision of not only delivering top quality degree and non-degree programs," says Haspelagh, "but also as a place where global business and policy leaders can convene. We believe we can play an important role in helping individuals, companies, and organizations cope with the changes before them”. Capitalizing on the location and reputation of Brussels has been central to Vlerick Business School who believe that the new campus ‘offers a window on the future of global business in the capital of Europe’.

An exciting range of over 100 customized programs specifically designed and conducted for Brussels-based companies and EMEA headquarters will be on offer to students, including sector–based research initiatives in ‘financial services’ and ‘life sciences and healthcare’. As well as offering executive education programs, the new campus will also deliver a new EMBA program targeted at both the local expat and Belgium community.

The opening of the new campus in Brussels coincidences with Boston’s University recent decision to withdraw from the city in December 2013.
