The Yale executive MBA was launched in 2005 and initially focused on furthering business leadership in the healthcare industry. This year, however, Yale School of Management is extending the program to include issues surrounding business sustainability and asset management.

The extension comes at a time of growth for the Yale School of Management which will be moving to a new campus named the Edward P Evans Hall in January 2014. The new and improved Yale executive MBA aims to reflect this growth along with the school’s focus on addressing contemporary challenges in today’s global business world.

Yale School of Management has established expertise in fields of healthcare, asset management and business sustainability, and, along with the advantage of the university's research, the Yale executive MBA program is able to provide its students with world-leading knowledge and resource facilities.

Edward A Snyder, dean of the Yale School of Management, said of the expansion, “The program will continue to feature our integrated core curriculum and our leadership development program. The new areas of focus – asset management and sustainability – are similar to our existing focus on healthcare in that they deal with big issues at the nexus of business and society. The world needs leaders who understand the importance of managing people’s retirement savings, pension funds, and endowments, or addressing climate change and resource availability in a systematic way.”

Business sustainability a key concern in Yale executive MBA program

The asset management focus will aim to teach students the technical skills of investing capital as well as giving a broader look at issues regarding strategy and organization. The business sustainability strand will provide a look at how companies can integrate sustainability at the same time as driving innovation and growth.

The Yale executive MBA is taught every other weekend over 22 months to cater for those in full-time work. The course provides the same curriculum as the normal MBA program and the same amount of contact time in total.
