Central European University is an undergraduate- and graduate-level “crossroads” university where faculty and students from more than 100 countries come to engage in interdisciplinary education, focused on practical skills and on educating leaders who contribute to solving society’s most vexing problems.

CEU is accredited in both the US and the EU, and offers English-language bachelor's, master's and doctoral programs in management, public policy, law, social sciences, and the humanities. With its main campus located in Vienna, CEU has a distinct academic and intellectual focus.

Founded in 1991 at a time when revolutionary changes were throwing off rigid orthodoxies imposed on much of the world, CEU is based on the premise that human fallibility can be counterbalanced by a critical discussion of ideas and that this critical spirit can be sustained best in societies where citizens have the freedom to scrutinize competing ideas and theories and openly evaluate and impact government policies. The same philosophy guides much of our instruction in business and management, when we invite our executive participants to entertain a vision of leadership that forgos rigid hierarchies and puts critical, strategic thinking and respect for the diversity of ideas, backgrounds and lived experiences at the center of every organisation.
