MBA Jobs Infographic: Traits of a Successful Manager

As well as providing a measure of global MBA jobs and salary trends, annual QS employer research looks at MBA skills – chiefly, at how satisfied employers are with those possessed by their MBA hires. The findings are fairly consistent in showing one thing: while employers are, by and large, satisfied with the technical and functional MBA skills possessed by their hires, they are less impressed with their soft and interpersonal skills.

As anyone who has ever had to work with, you know, other people will be able to tell you (hi there, everyone), these skills are often exactly what make the difference between a successful manager and an unsuccessful one. Management, after all, is about motivating people to make the most of their skills and to give their all to their common cause. You’ll struggle to do that if you’re uncharismatic hothead who is a poor communicator to boot…one would have thought.
