With International Women’s Day approaching this weekend, here at TopMBA.com we wanted to recognize six highly successful women who went to business school at some point during their stellar careers.

From a former corporation CEO to a comedian and an Olympic gold medal winner, these women have all left their mark on the world.

Indra Nooyi

 

Indra Nooyi is an Indian American business executive. Former CEO of PepsiCo, she now serves on the board of Amazon, the International Cricket Council and Schlumberger.

In 1978, she was admitted to Yale School of Management, from which she graduated with a master’s degree in Public and Private Management in 1980.

In 2011, Forbes named Nooyi the fourth most powerful woman in the world.

Wanda Sykes

 

Wanda Sykes is an American actress, comedian and writer, named as one of the 25 funniest people in America by Entertainment Weekly.

She is known for her work as a writer on The Chris Rock Show (for which she won a Primetime Emmy Award) and her acting roles in The New Adventures of Old Christine, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Black-ish.  

After completing high school, Wanda graduated with a marketing degree from Hampton University in Virginia and worked as a contracting specialist for the National Security Agency.

Cate Blanchett

 

Cate Blanchett is an Australian American actress and theater director, and a winner of prestigious accolades such as two Academy Awards, three Golden Globe Awards and three British Academy Film Awards.

In 2007 and 2018, she was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.

She studied economics and fine arts at the University of Melbourne.

Lisa Leslie

 

Lisa Leslie is an American former professional basketball player, winner of four Olympic gold Medals and three-time winner of the WNBA’s Most Valuable Player accolade.

After completing a bachelor’s degree in communications from the University of Southern California in 1994, she was awarded an MBA from the University of Phoenix in 2009.

Ina Garten

 

Known as the ‘Barefoot Contessa’, Ina Garten is an American author, tv show host and a former staff member of the White House Office of Management and Budget.

In the 1970s, while working as an aide in the White House, she earned an MBA from George Washington University, which she used to become a budget analyst for the Carter Administration.

Tyra Banks

 

Tyra Banks, also known as BanX, is a world-famous American television personality, producer, actress, author, model and businesswoman.

Aside from her highly successful modeling career, Tyra is known for acting on the hit-series The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air and creating and presenting the long-running reality show America’s Next Top Model.

In 2011, she enrolled in the nine-week Owner/President Management Program (OPM) at Harvard Business School, which she completed in 2012.
