TopMBA.com talks to Craig Dixon about his decision to do an MBA and why he chose the Tuck School of Business. 

1. What were you doing before your MBA?

Before Tuck, I worked at Merrill Lynch's Global Banking Group as an application developer. Additionally, I ran my own technology consulting firm.      

2. What were your main reasons for deciding to attend business school?

To make a transition into strategy consulting, expand my network, and obtain learn more about business and entrepreneurship.     

3. What research did you undertake in selecting your school?

- school websites
- speaking with students and alumni
- participating in MBA preparatory programs (i.e. HBS SVMP, Wharton Management Program and Management Leadership for Tomorrow Pre-MBA program).     

4. What were the main criteria in your selection? 

1) Size
2) Location
3) Expertise in Strategy, Finance, Social Enterprise, and Entrepreneurship
4) Ability to grow as a leader
5) Strength of Alumni network     

5. Why did you decide to study either in your own country or overseas?

I decided to stay in the US because of the proximity to my family and friends.     

6. Were you successful in obtaining a scholarship?

Yes, Tiogo fellowship, Tuck Scholarships, and Consortium of General Managment.

7. How much do you expect to earn on graduation?

~$130,000      

8. What do you expect to do on graduation and where do you expect to be based?

I will be doing strategy consulting & M&A. I will be based in the Washington, DC/Baltimore area.     

9. Where do you see yourself in ten years time? 

I will be either a senior employee or owning a business.      

10. How easy or difficult do you expect it to be to achieve these objectives?

It will be difficult, but I am confident I have the foundation to be successful.

11. Any other comments?

My experience at Tuck has been great! I have accomplished all of my goals and I am happy I chose to pursue an MBA. The administrators at Tuck are very helpful and supportive. My classmates are very smart and are "good" people. The alumni network was very helpful in my ability to secure a full-time position.

Overall, the Tuck MBA experience was a transformation experience that stretched me academically, while allowing me to meet and work with a diverse group of people.
