This week Rutgers Business School holds its second annual biopharmaceutical case competition, which will see MBA students from top business schools such as Carnegie Mellon, Columbia, Boston University, Wharton and Pennsylvania State compete in teams in order to review an original case written by Rutgers Business School faculty.

The competition will involve several teams of three to five MBA students specializing in pharmaceutical management, and their task is to work on and provide solutions for a marketing-based case which they have been allowed a week in advance to prepare for.

Each team must present their case in front of a panel of judges on the final day of the competition to be in with a chance of winning the cash prizes. The winning team will receive US$6,000, the runners-up will get US$3,000, and the team in third place gets US$1,500.

The final day of the competition takes place during Rutgers’ Pharma Student Day which will host talks from a variety of professionals in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries. The day is open to all students, alumni and industry professionals and is intended to highlight the strength of Rutgers Business School’s pharmaceutical management program as well as its commitment to developing students with a firm knowledge of how the industry works as well as building their network of potential employers.

Rutgers Business School benefits from New Jersey’s position as America’s ‘medicine cabinet’

Rutgers is home to the Blanche and Irwin Lerner Centre for the Study of Pharmaceutical Management Issues and along with its New Jersey location, a hub of drug-making companies and pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries, makes the school a highly-regarded place of study for those looking at pharmaceutical management programs.

Unlike similar case competitions that take place at schools such as Kellogg and Wake Forest and have only one pharmaceutical sponsor, Rutgers Business School boasts eight industry-leading sponsors including Bayer, Novartis, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Janssen and Johnson & Johnson.

The final day of the competition takes place on Friday 15th November 2013 from 8am-5pm at 1 Washington Park, Newark, and will end in an awards dinner.
