TopMBA.com talks to Rahul Jain about his decision to do an MBA, why he chose the Tuck School of Business and his future career plans.
What were you doing before your MBA?
Working as an investment banking analyst at Salomon Smith Barney in New York City.
What were your main reasons for deciding to attend business school?
Switching careers, broadening my skill set, learning from experiences of others.
What research did you undertake in selecting your school?
- attended school presentations
- spoke with alumni
- looked at rankings
What were the main criteria in your selection?
- reputation
- quality of alumni network
- job prospects
Why did you decide to study either in your own country or overseas?
I regard US MBA programs to be the best in the world, that's why.
How well do your think the MBA is regarded in your home country?
Awareness of the MBA is still low in Germany but increasing.
Have you already been, or do you intend to become an entrepreneur?
Not yet, but plan on starting my own business after a few years at a corporation.
How much do you expect to earn on graduation?
USD 180,000 per annum.
What do you expect to do on graduation and where do you expect to be based?
Management consulting at McKinsey and Company in New Jersey.
How easy or difficult do you expect it to be to achieve these objectives?
Having worked at McKinsey will allow me to gain insight into a variety of industries and thus facilitate identifying opportunities to start a business. Also by helping businesses improve I will gain the right skills to start my own business.
