University information

The admissions process and the requirements vary based on the programme you choose to study. The typical admissions requirements to get enrolled on a full-time, part-time or an online MBA programme includes;
  • An undergraduate degree (Bachelor or equivalent)
  • Minimum of two years of postgraduate work experience
  • Fully completed online application form 
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor or supervisor. 
  • Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL (min. 100 IBT) or equivalent IELTS (7.0) if English is not your native language.
  • Completed Excellent Fit Assessment (at least one of the following five criteria must be fulfilled)

- External certifications (GMAT / GMAT Focus / GRE or WHU Admissions Test or CFA Level II)

- PhD / doctorate level academic degree

- Previous academic degree in business sciences from an accredited university and three years of professional experience

- Top 5% of graduating class in a non-business field from an accredited university and three years of professional experience in a business field

- Extraordinary Achievement

To gain admissions into the Kellogg-WHU Executive MBA programme, the requirements would typically include;

  •  An up-to-date CV
  • An undergraduate degree (Bachelor or equivalent)
  • Minimum of two years of postgraduate work experience
  • Fully completed online application form 
  • One letter of recommendation from a professor or supervisor. 
  • Proof of English proficiency: TOEFL (min. 100 IBT) or equivalent IELTS (7.0) if English is not your native language.
  • Completed Excellent Fit Assessment (at least one of the following five criteria must be fulfilled)
  • Two letters of recommendation (One from your supervisor or close colleague and another one from a customer, supplier, or previous employer)
  • English language proficiency (TOEFL or IELTS)
  • Diplomas and transcripts
  • €200 application fee

The admissions process for all MBA programmes except for the Kellogg-WHU EMBA would typically commence with the submission of an  online application . In addition to the application documentation a letter of motivation will also be requested to get to know the candidate better. Whereas, applying for the EMBA programme would commence with an eligibility screening call with the admissions team. At Campus Vallendar, the central square ‘Burgplatz’ is a popular meeting spot for students and locals alike. The campus also hosts lecture halls, a library, open study spaces, a gym and more. On Campus Vallendar, students have two convenient options for grabbing a bite and unwinding. The Mensa is the go-to spot for a diverse selection of hot and cold dishes, offering a varied menu that changes throughout the week. Right next door adjacent to the 'Zalando Lounge', the Bistro serves up smaller snacks along with freshly brewed coffee and teas. Donated to WHU by alumni, the Zalando Lounge has become a favourite gathering place for students.

Living on campus

To assist students to secure comfortable living arrangements, the campus offers a range of accommodation options conveniently located within walking distance of the main campus. Whether students prefer halls of residence, private apartments, or houses, there are plenty of choices available to suit different preferences and needs. Student life

At WHU Otto Beisheim, students can expect to gain a comprehensive education in business and management while having the opportunity to explore Germany and the business opportunities available there. Students are able to socialise with their fellow students, on average 87% of whom are international students and come from all over the world to form a diverse cohort, and engage in their interests while enhancing their career prospects. Throughout their studies students can expect to be very well supported by faculty. On the MBA course alone, there are 12 main faculty members and an average of 69 full-time and 180 part-time students. This means that between the two courses, there are around 20 students per faculty member.

There are seven accommodation options available on the Vallendar campus for both domestic German students and international students which aim to create a sense of community. These are:

  • Campus Krautkrämer - there are 29 apartments, ten of which are reserved for exchange students, which have standard fixtures and fittings including ben linen, crockery, kitchen utensils and Wi-Fi connection included.   • Gilgenborn 31a - A newly-build house that has 9 shared apartments containing 27 2-person, 3-person, and 4-person shared bedrooms. Each bedroom has a balcony, and the apartments are fully furnished with bedlinen, crockery, towels and Wi-Fi. A laundry room is available for all students living in the building.   • Hamacher – 12 small single apartments which are within a one-minute walking distance of the Vallendar campus and can be used by couples. They are fully furnished and include dishes, bed linen and Wi-Fi as well as access to a laundry room. The cost is between €1,790 and €2,750 as of spring 2024.   • Höhrerstraße - a modern building which has single apartments as well as two-bedroom apartments and shared flats which can house four or five students. All flats are fully furnished and have a separate kitchenette and bathroom per apartment or shared apartment. The cost is around €2,470 for the single apartments, €2,340 for the two-bedroom apartments, €2,040 for the 4-person shared apartments and €2,180 for the 5-person shared apartments as of spring 2024.   • Humboldthöhe - a large apartment complex with a view of the Rhine River. It is important to note that the building is shared by a retirement residence and so ‘no party’ rules are enforced to ensure the comfort of both elderly and student residents. The size of apartments vary from 1-bedroom to 3-bedroom and each have their own balcony. The cost is between €2,030 and €2,150 per semester depending on the size of the apartment as of spring 2024.   • Krummgasse & Eulerstraße - two houses located in the city centre which are in 3-5 minute walking distance from the Vallendar campus. There are five separate apartments in these houses: four single apartments and one two-person apartment. Each has its own bathroom and kitchenette or living room kitchen space. Krumgasse has a laundry room which can be used by the residents of Eulerstraße too. The cost is between €2,430 and €2,690 per semester depending on the size of the apartment as of spring 2024.   • SmartFlats – an apartment building that is mainly used by exchange students. It has 48 fully furnished single apartments with their own bathrooms and kitchenettes.
