How to Stand Out in Your MBA Application
By Linda Mohamed
Updated December 20, 2019 Updated December 20, 2019MBA programs can be highly competitive, particularly in top-tier schools that offer many learning opportunities. Recruiters receive hundreds of applications every year, so how can candidates truly stand out and make the best impression on admissions faculties?
We caught up with Deidre M. Kane, Director of Admissions of full-time MBA & dual degree programs at the University of Georgia Terry College of Business, to find out more.
The ideal candidate
Kane describes the ideal applicant as someone who is prepared to engage fully in the program, seek learning opportunities and give back to the institution that provides them with valuable experiences.
She says, “We offer a very flexible and individualized learning environment for people, and that requires that someone comes in the program ready to take advantage of everything we offer and really ready to make it their own.”
Advice for recruitment events
Kane believes recruitment events are key to stand out to recruiters. She recommends that candidates do their research prior to attending so that they can demonstrate the admissions faculty their knowledge of the program and know what the right questions to ask are.
