Krannert School of Management, part of Purdue University based in Indiana in the US, is set to launch an executive MBA in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) sectors. The program is to take place in the neighboring state of Illinois in the city of Chicago.
The program is aimed at graduates with a STEM background, seeking students who have four to six years’ experience in any of these areas. The plan is to develop executive MBAs with skills specifically relevant to STEM related businesses. Specializations will be offered in product design and business analytics but with a stronger focus on the future of business in areas of biotechnology and next-generation manufacturing.
It will combine the standard Krannert business curriculum with elements from Purdue University’s STEM facilities. The dean of Krannert, Christopher Earley says that the scheme is “a unique opportunity to combine our strengths in business education with Purdue’s world-class programs in engineering, technology and science.”
The executive MBA will begin in September 2015 with a ten-day orientation at Purdue’s main campus in West Lafayette, Indiana and then will continue in Chicago with classes every other weekend. The course will last 16 months and will have an emphasis on active learning which will comprise of a project within Purdue’s research and technology parks or at a Chicago based STEM-related company.
