Full-time One(1)-Year MBA Progam Overview

Babson College has two full-time MBA courses, one that is a year in duration, and another that is two years long. The one-year MBA program allows access to the same courses, experiential learning methods and academic centers as the two-year MBA.

The learning goals of the Babson MBA program are consistent with the university’s mission to create entrepreneurs with both economic and social values. Graduates will be competent in entrepreneurial thinking and acting, social, environmental, and economic responsibility, self and contextual awareness, functional depth with integrative ability, managing in a global environment, and leadership and teamwork.

The Babson MBA has designed their program with specific tracks, to enable students to focus their studies. Options for the MBA concentrations include business analytics, entrepreneurship, finance, global management, and marketing. There are also different intensity tracks available for the Babson MBA. The intensity tracks provide the opportunity to deepen knowledge of a topic and enables students to build their resume. The intensity tracks include the Business and Social Innovation Intensity Track, Entrepreneurship Intensity Track, and the Women Innovating Now (WIN) Lab Intensity Track.

The program uses experiential learning to give students real-world experiences. It has the Babson Consulting Alliance Program, and the Management Consulting Field Experience, to support and teach students these skills. The Babson Consulting Allowance Program is a series of projects, of which small teams tackle real-world problems. This allows them to transfer their skills they learn in school and put them into practice.

The student body make up is hugely international, with international students making up 69% of the class profile in the one-year MBA, and 70% in the two-year MBA. The class sizes vary between the program lengths; the two-year MBA has significantly larger class size at 152 students compared to 49 students in the one-year MBA.

For both the one-year MBA and the two-year MBA programs, the average student has around five years of prior work experience. Students who complete the Certificate in Advanced Management (CAM) receive a GMAT waiver for both the one-year MBA, and the two-year MBA programs. There may also be the opportunity to apply CAM credits towards their Babson MBA degree.

Of the 2016 graduating class, 80% of those seeking employment were employed within six months, with 19% going into financial services, 12% into technology and 12% into consulting. Graduates earn early-career pay of $66,600, and a mid-career pay of $141,700, according to PayScale. Babson is known for producing entrepreneurs, and has the largest dedicated entrepreneurship faculty in the world.
