La Trobe Business School is the business school of La Trobe University (LTU), a multi-campus, nonprofit, public research university in Melbourne, Australia. Currently celebrating its 50th year in operation, the European Foundation for Management Development (EFMS/EPAS)-accredited La Trobe Business School features brand-new, state-of-the-art facilities in the heart of the Melbourne’s central business district (CBD), with additional course and program locations at campuses in Albury-Wodonga, Bendigo, Chisholm, Dandenong, Mildura, and Shepparton.

 

La Trobe offers an award-winning MBA program, available in various formats. The flagship, full-time La Trobe MBA program is 18 months in duration. Students can also do a joint MBA/MHA (health administration) or an MBA/MFA (financial analysis).

 

The La Trobe MBA is aimed at working professionals seeking to accelerate their careers in business. Students learn under the direction of experienced academics and professionals from an array of industries, and with wide-ranging expertise. This internationally accredited La Trobe MBA is designed to equip responsible business leaders with the skills to develop and sustain competitive advantages for their organizations. Accordingly, the curriculum encompasses the UN-backed Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) and includes a comprehensive personal and professional skills development component.

 

The La Trobe MBA program comprises 10 compulsory core subjects, along with two electives and two professional internship placements split over three terms. The program also involves creating an ePortfolio to enhance students’ opportunities for future employment, and allow students to reflect on how to apply the program learnings in a professional role, and includes business boardroom simulations.

 

Core subjects include: personal and professional development; strategic management; management finance; marketing; management fundamentals; organizational analysis; responsible leadership; business analysis and modelling; responsible leadership; financial and management accounting; and values, ethics and diversity in organizations. 

 

Options for elective subjects include: corporate governance, entrepreneurship, management information systems and knowledge management, business in society, business research methods, human resource management and employment relations, and international management; and a selection from four MBA research project topics, in which students demonstrate their acquired capacities for critical thinking, writing, information literacy, inquiry/research, creative problem-solving, and ethical awareness.

 

Additional elective options include an experiential learning project, and an MBA study tour, which can be either international or domestic. These involve experiential learning and include issues in management, marketing, finance, international business, and/or human resources, with a focus on socially responsible decision-making.

 

LTU welcomes international applicants, with scholarships and finding available for all students. Post-graduation, around 95% of students are employed within three months, earning an average salary of US$83,169.
