The Fisher College of Business flagship full-time MBA program at Ohio State University (OSU) is a residential program over two years, catering for approximately 150 full-time MBA students per year. The Fisher MBA focuses on experiential learning through connection with local, national, and global business partners. It features a range of contemporary business disciplines taught by world-class faculty connected to the diverse programs at OSU. This results in opportunities for cross-discipline study and specializations, core courses in commercialization, and The Venture Lab – a hands-on, proof-of-concept accelerator – creating a unique chance for students who wish to launch their own ventures while completing the program.
The program includes core foundation, skills-building, and leadership training courses over the first year, a summer term involving an internship or overseas Global Applied Project (GAP), and a second-year focus on electives. Electives offered on the program, which can be taken as specializations, include data analytics, finance, financial reporting and analysis, international business, leadership and organizational behavior, marketing, operations and logistics, sports management, strategy, and technology entrepreneurship – alternatively, students also have the option to create their own area of major or specialization.
Fisher’s Office of Global Business (OGB) offers two routes to enhance students’ training in and acquisition of a global perspective. The first, Global Applied Projects (GAP), gives MBA students the opportunity to gain international consulting experience while working on a business challenge alongside non-US foreign nationals in a global location. Core skills and competencies acquired include: project management, industry and cultural expertise, management and teamwork skills, data collection and analysis skills, ability to craft compelling presentations, and an ability to synthesize information and then make strategic, actionable recommendations.
The second, Global Business Expeditions (GBE), offers students opportunities to travel abroad to gain business and cultural insights through classes taught by OSU faculty who have deep country/regional, functional, or topical expertise. Other opportunities for adding global experience to the Fisher MBA are available via OSU’s Office of International Affairs.
The Fisher full-time MBA program features a mix of about 27% female and 36% international students. Fisher stresses personalization, not viewing students as numbers, but as accomplished individuals with unique abilities to be further shaped and honed through the dynamic MBA learning experience.
Post-graduation, 92% of US citizens/permanent residents and 78% of international students are employed within three months, with an median salary of $95,000.
