Frequently Asked Questions

What is the status of planned campus admission open days/tours? If these events are cancelled, are they being replaced in any way (i.e. by online alternatives)?

Our campus remains closed due to the Governor of California’s “Shelter in Place” mandate. However, because Merage is committed to Leadership for a Digitally Driven World, we are offering remote delivery of not only our classes for our current students but also remote delivery of our on-campus events. Students who are interested in learning more about the program are encouraged to reach out to our Full-Time MBA office directly ([email protected]) to schedule a personal consultation via Skype or Zoom.

How can applicants contact the university about their application? How is the university handling applicants whose exams have been cancelled?

Applicants who have questions regarding their application can contact us directly at [email protected]. Our office maintains our inquiry mailbox daily and we do everything we can to respond to applicants as quickly as possible.

Due to these unprecedented times we understand that exam cancellations can be out of an applicants control so we are working on a case by case basis with our applicants.

What advice is the university offering to applicants unable to take an English-language test due to centers being closed? How is the university supporting applicants whose visa applications have been delayed?

To meet the needs of students who are unable to take the TOEFL iBT test at a test center due to public health concerns, ETS is temporarily offering the TOEFL iBT Special Home Edition test in selected areas. The test is identical in content, format and on-screen experience to the TOEFL iBT test taken at a test center. It is taken on your own computer at home and is monitored by a human proctor online. We highly encourage our applicants to contact ETS as well as the British Council first to inquire about available testing options. 

Since the Merage Full-Time MBA program is on the quarter system, our program does not begin class until the third week of September. This allows us more time to monitor what is currently happening with visa applications while we work very closely with our International Student Center. If students are not be able to be on campus by September, we are preparing for remote delivery options.

Is the university still accepting applications? Are there any restrictions being placed on international applicants?

Yes, our Full-Time MBA program is still currently accepting applications. Our next application deadline will be on April 1st and we are happy to offer application fee waivers for applicants who are interested in applying to the program. This year we’ve added a June 1st deadline and candidates that have been impacted by testing center closures can submit scores after their application has been submitted. We are currently not putting specific restrictions on international applicants, however, due to the uncertainty regarding visas, we are working with international applicants on a case by case basis and highly recommend international applicants have all application materials completed before submitting their applications.


How are applications for university accommodation being handled? Is the university making any changes to entry requirements (i.e. test results, required documents)?

On-campus housing is not guaranteed for graduate students, however, there are numerous off-campus accommodations close to campus that our students take advantage of.

Currently there are no changes to the entry requirements. For a completed application, applicants must submit a GRE or GMAT, TOEFL or IELTS (for international applicants), two professional letters of recommendation, two essays and a resume.
