About Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV)

Founded in 1944, Fundação Getulio Vargas (FGV) is a pioneering Brazilian institution with a mission to promote the country’s socioeconomic development. Initially created to train qualified professionals for the public and private sectors, FGV rapidly expanded its scope to include high-level research and information dissemination. Today, it is internationally recognized for its excellence in education, innovation, and public policy, combining tradition and modernity in the pursuit of national progress.

FGV comprises several schools and institutes offering a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and executive programs in fields such as business and public administration, economics, law, social sciences, international relations, applied mathematics, and data science. It was the first institution in Brazil to offer degrees in business and public administration and remains a reference in academic quality, with multiple programs taught in English and strong international accreditations, including triple accreditation for its business schools.

Beyond education, FGV stands out as one of the world’s top think tanks and the leading one in Latin America. It houses a vast network of applied research centers and institutes dedicated to addressing critical issues in economics, energy, education, regulation, sustainability, and social policy. Through studies, indicators, and public policy proposals, FGV provides strategic insights to governments, companies, and civil society.

With a presence in more than 150 Brazilian municipalities and partnerships with over 200 international institutions, FGV combines local impact with global outreach. It operates a permanent office in Europe (FGV Europe) and develops executive education and customized training programs through a broad affiliated network.
