Why You Should Consider Doing Your MBA in Oregon
By Linda Mohamed
Updated UpdatedThe Beaver State is notorious for its beautiful scenery full of geographical landmarks, but it’s also home to different business schools offering a wide range of programs.
We caught up with faculty and students at Willamette University Atkinson Graduate School of Management to find out why Oregon is a great place to do your MBA.
Juliet Valdez, Director of Recruitment at Atkinson, says: “Oregon is a great place for business. We have companies like Daimler, Nike, Adidas, Columbia.”
And there’s more. Given the school’s location in Salem – Oregon’s capital – and near the Capitol building, students have access to political and non-profit networks where they can meet professionals working in public policy, governmental institutions and lobbying.
Furthermore, Valdez says that Salem can be the gateway to cities like San Francisco and Seattle without committing to the high cost of living.
Melissa Joe, MBA student at Atkinson, says the school offers plenty of opportunities for students to socialize. From weekly outings bowling or competing at mini golf, MBA students get to know each other, faculty members and “make some great memories while in this program.”
