About ESCP Business School - Berlin

ESCP was established in 1819 making it the oldest business school in the world. It was originally established in Paris and has since expanded across Europe to cities such as London, Madrid, Turin, and Warsaw as well as Berlin. It was established by entrepreneurs Germaine Legret and Amédée Brodart, economists Adolphe Blanqui and Jean-Baptiste Say, who was also a theorist of entrepreneurship, and merchant Vital Roux who contributed to the French Commercial Code. The school aims to produce educated, high-potential leaders by using a European cross-cultural approach to management based on interdisciplinary principles to train the choice-makers of tomorrow.

The German capital city of Berlin is well known for its beautiful architecture, rich history, culinary traditions, and party culture. Museums such as Museum Sinsel, Pergamon Museum and Neues Museum display a wide variety of artifacts and art galleries such as Gemälde Gallerie show famous works from legendary artists such as Vermeer, Rembrandt, Caravaggio and Boticelli. Another famous historical building which can be found very close to the university campus is Charlottenburg Palace, the summer home of Queen Sophie Charlotte of Prussia with its rococo style interiors and vast gardens. Alongside this, there are plenty of beer gardens, markets, restaurants, coffee shops and parks in the area which often hosts cultural events and allows students to immerse themselves in German culture. Berlin also has a thriving economy and in recent years has become a hub of business start-ups, particularly in the creative and technology sectors. This makes it an attractive option for students looking to study an MBA as there are plenty of opportunities to learn and work within the city.

ESCP aims to create business leaders who will create positive change by using a pedagogical model of business education. Each of its courses are rooted in four pillars. Firstly, expertise: the school recognises that in the current business world, students who have a specialised set of skills as opposed to a more vague subject knowledge are increasingly desirable to employers as they are able to use specific knowledge to solve problems most efficiently. The idea of sustainability is also important to ESCP who want the careers of their alumni to be purposeful and make an impact on the world. Sustainability is an important pillar that is built into all the courses offered. Community is another important pillar. ESCP has schools all over Europe meaning that a strong sense of international community is integral however there is also a strong sense of diversity within each campus as students from all over the world choose to study business there. Finally, purpose and innovation. ESCP was a pioneer of the multi-campus school and continues to ensure that it’s teaching pushes boundaries and is at the forefront of business innovation.
