Admission Requirements

All degrees welcome

We are looking for “high potential career launchers” from every discipline. Corporate Residency MBA students share a sense of how to transfer skills and experience acquired in Arts, Science, Health, Engineering, Business and other degrees into a managerial context along with a willingness to take on a steep learning curve and strive to be the best they can be.

No work experience required

Are you ready to pivot?

In many cases the diversity in our classes comes from students “pivoting” out of different career paths. You may have been considering a career in medicine, law, dentistry, pharmacy or engineering, then realized you don’t quite fit or that there might be something else out there. Are you curious about the unlimited opportunities and earning potential that are on offer for Dalhousie Corporate Residency MBA graduates?

Are you a blender?

Other students that come to the Corporate Residency MBA program are “blenders”. Do you have a passion for what you studied in your undergraduate program and want to build on the strength of that degree? The Corporate Residency MBA can help you leverage the skills you already have and provide you with a new set of business and leadership skills to launch your career in your chosen field.

Here are the requirements all applicants must meet before they would be considered for our program, and I have included them below for your reference.

• A four-year bachelor’s degree recognized by Dalhousie supported by official transcripts from all colleges/universities previously attended

• A Grade Point Average of B (or 3.0, 73%) or better in the final two years (60 credits)

• Please note: our program will not require applicants for June 2022 to submit a GMAT score.

• For candidates who have a degree from a non-English-language university, whose native tongue is not English: Minimum IELTS overall score of 7.5; TOEFL score of 102 (internet-based).  The language competency test may be waived if the applicant has completed a degree at a recognized university where the language of instruction is English in a country where English is one of the national languages.

• Two academic letters of reference

• Current résumé

• A letter of intent

• Letter of Financial Guarantee (International students only)

Once the components noted above have been submitted, and our admissions committee has reviewed the file, candidates will be contacted for the interview, which is the second phase of the admissions process. You can find more detail regarding these requirements on the admissions page of our website.

At present, we only have a June intake. Application deadlines for June 2022 are as follows:

Frequently Asked Questions

The Faculty of Graduate Studies here at Dalhousie University governs our admissions processes and will not accept a 3-year degree. That said though, they may consider a master's degree.
Our admissions process is also governed by the Faculty of Graduate Studies(FGS) who mandate that all applicants meet the GPA admission requirement of 3.0 in the last two years of study. This, unfortunately, is not a requirement that our admissions committee can influence even if they believe an application would be successful in our program. That said, however, FGS will allow an additional 15 credit hours of course work (3000 or 4000 level classes) should an applicant wish to upgrade their GPA or upgrading prior grades can also be considered.
The Faculty of Graduate Studies (FGS) here at Dalhousie University governs our admissions process and mandates that reference letters must be academic in nature unless an applicant has been away from their studies for more than five years in which case, they will accept one academic reference and one professional reference. Unfortunately, that would mean that for you, references must both be academic in nature.
Applications are assessed at the end of each round. Depending on the round from which you applied typically the decisions are turned around within 2 weeks to 4 weeks.
The target market for the Corporate Residency MBA program is early career professionals who are looking to get their foot in the door of the corporate world and either come directly from their undergraduate degree or with less than 5 years of professional work experience. If you have more than 5 years of work experience please browse Dalhousie University's options for Mid-career MBA options.
