At Dalhousie University we offer students a different kind of MBA experience. The Corporate Residency MBA offers a 22-month innovative, industry-informed, and rigorous curriculum combined with an 8-month paid work experience (corporate residency). Students make on average $29k on their residencies, and 87% of our graduate’s secure employment in their field of choice within 6 months of graduation.

The goal of the program is to help high achieving, self-motivated individuals with leadership potential launch their careers and accelerate professional development. Successful candidates display exceptional potential in employability, coachability and critical thinking to join a small multi-disciplinary cohort of 40-55 students.

Our first-year integrated core curriculum of business courses provides a solid foundation for advanced study, and success on the corporate residency. In addition to further exploration of the functional areas of business, 2nd year students leverage the Faculty of Management’s unique, inter-disciplinary, values-led approach to management education. Students within our program can choose to focus their degree electives into four areas: Finance, Marketing, Enterprise Analytics, and Entrepreneurship and Innovation. Unique to Dalhousie is our Personal and Professional Effectiveness (PPE) courses providing students with the relevant, practical leadership skills they need to accelerate their career.

Your career begins just a few short months into the program. By the time you enter your Corporate Residency, you will have been coached and rigorously prepared for this deep immersion into the business world. Over eight months you will accomplish and learn more than is possible in any traditional four-month co-op because a Dalhousie Corporate Residency isn’t just another summer job, it’s a glimpse into your career. As one employer aptly said, “In four months you are considered a co-op student. In eight months, we treat you as an employee with all the responsibility that goes with it.”  You will be paid a salary that helps offset tuition fees. You’ll come back to the classroom for your second year with solid business experience, ready to leverage what you’ve learned during your residency.

The possibilities for your Corporate Residency experience are limitless. Our students secure their eight-month paid residencies with employers in the business, not-for-profit and public service sectors. Most are located in Ontario, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada; however, CRMBA students have completed their residencies in locations across Canada. A full list of employer partners may be found on our website.

All degrees welcome

We are looking for “high potential career launchers” from every discipline. Corporate Residency MBA students share a sense of how to transfer skills and experience acquired in Arts, Science, Health, Engineering, Business and other degrees into a managerial context along with a willingness to take on a steep learning curve and strive to be the best they can be.

No work experience required

Are you ready to pivot?

In many cases the diversity in our classes comes from students “pivoting” out of different career paths. You may have been considering a career in medicine, law, dentistry, pharmacy or engineering, then realized you don’t quite fit or that there might be something else out there. Are you curious about the unlimited opportunities and earning potential that are on offer for Dalhousie Corporate Residency MBA graduates?

Are you a blender?

Other students that come to the Corporate Residency MBA program are “blenders”. Do you have a passion for what you studied in your undergraduate program and want to build on the strength of that degree? The Corporate Residency MBA can help you leverage the skills you already have and provide you with a new set of business and leadership skills to launch your career in your chosen field.
