Our students describe the journey:
P0: Gearing up for the Start of Your INSEAD MBA Journey/ To help students better prepare for an intensive MBA journey ahead, the INSEAD programme team will be connecting with you to kickstart your MBA experience even before you step foot on campus.
INSEAD P1: After five years of working in my previous job, I realised that my learning curve (knowledge vs time) had become shallow. Working in an engineering team, I eventually got involved in people and project management tasks. Yet the lack of a formal management toolkit in my qualification’s portfolio restricted my access to greener pastures (stronger leadership roles). Considering the brand equity and discovering my right fit, the INSEAD MBA seemed to be the answer to all my discomposure.
P2: Over in a Flash… It’s the last week of class here in P2 and we have our first finals in four days. Somehow this period managed to fly without I or most of my classmates noticing. I guess this is what they mean when they say time flies when you’re having “funWhereas in Period 1 almost every weekend was filled with adventures to new, exotic locales, Period 2 was when reality set in. Summer internship recruiting started in a most intense type…
Halfway Through the World - P3 in Abu Dhabi ; The official first work day of our second half of the INSEAD MBA programme. The 40+ of us in Abu Dhabi just spent an entire eight hours in a Crack the Case session with David Ohrvall. The first time I saw the electives list for P3, my thought was “I wish I could do all of them”. INSEAD’s curriculum is divided in two main pieces: the core courses, which lay the foundations of your knowledge and take place during P1, P2 and P3 (the first three periods of INSEAD), and the elective courses, which you can choose from a broad array of options and go deeper in specific topics.
It was of course still a high-pressured and fast-paced environment, as is the nature of a one-year MBA programme. This is true especially in P4, as the recruitment period for full-time positions after graduation has already begun. However, there are still many self-organised activities among students which I enjoyed participating in, and which helped foster closer connections with my MBA classmates.
By the time the last period, affectionately known as P5, of INSEAD arrived, the atmosphere shifted from a busy stress to a more relaxed and social climate compared to the first two periods. Even for those of us that were still looking for jobs, we had already finished most of our required classes, therefore our focus now was in strengthening the bonds with our classmates; some has spend P4 in the Wharton Business School of Pennsylvania.
In short, our alumni often say that their year at INSEAD was life-changing!

How many years' work experience do I need to be admitted?
INSEAD does not have an absolute requirement for years of work experience, although at least two years is strongly encouraged. Participants in our current class have an average of six years work experience, with the range being between two and ten. However, applicants with less experience who demonstrate exceptional maturity and outstanding leadership through their professional and personal experiences will also be considered.
I don't have a business background. Will this impact my chances for admission?
At INSEAD, we value diversity at every level. We welcome applications from people with a variety of professional and academic backgrounds, including the arts, law, medicine, military, non-profit, etc. As with all candidates, we will be looking for you to demonstrate your potential as a leader, and we will consider your professional experience and past performance when assessing your application.
