Based at the University of Notre Dame in the US state of Indiana, the Mendoza College of Business is not your average business school. Focused on principles and moral values, rather than commercial and corporate goals, Mendoza full-time MBA students are trained to develop a sense of individual integrity and focus on the greater good at all time – admirable concepts which are too often in short supply in the modern business world. Of course, this doesn’t mean the training is not rigorous – quite the opposite. The schools frequently ranks highly, demonstrating the real business value of social consciousness and propriety.

Based at Notre Dame, the Mendoza full-time MBA program is very competitive. Applicants must submit their GMAT/GRE scores, undergraduate transcripts, references, CVs, and essay question responses. However, on top of this, candidates are also required to create and submit a slide presentation in support of their application, and must ensure they have already completed three credit hours of financial accounting and three credit hours of statistics study from an accredited university. Tuition fees for the one-year course are US$73,063. There are a range of support options available, including a merit-based fellowship that is offered to around 65% of all one-year full-time MBA students.

The Mendoza one-year full-time MBA is an intense program. Students are expected to complete a 10-week summer session to gain business fundamentals, before declaring their chosen concentration and joining the second year of the two-year course. The concentrations on offer are: business analytics, business leadership, consulting, corporate finance, innovation and entrepreneurship, investments, and marketing. Mendoza students should have a clear idea of their career objectives; the one-year course is not for undecided generalists. Alongside the academic program, career services one-on-one coaching and strategy development are on offer throughout the course.

This rigorous program puts Mendoza graduates in an excellent position to enter the fast-paced, unpredictable world of business. Of the 2016 graduating class, 91% had received a job offer within three months of graduation, and 90% had accepted their first position within the same time period. The median base salary for this group was an impressive US$105,000, with a median sign-on bonus of US$20,000. As proof of the modern, dynamic nature of the Mendoza program, the tech sector proved the biggest draw for this group of students, attracting 27% of them, compared to the US business school career path of consulting, which only drew 12% of students.
