In today's business environment, an MBA from the Schulich School of Business, Canada's Global Business School, is your passport to success. The Schulich MBA is a 16 month program that offers an integrated approach to general management fundamentals and combines classroom learning with hands on experience through an eight month strategic consulting project working with real clients, problems and solutions.  The program offers 18 different specializations, year-round study options including full-time, part-time and accelerated, 52 exchange partners in 30 countries, internship opportunities, and short term study tours that allow you to customize your studies to your personal and professional interests.

1. What is the most important component of the application process?
There is no particular weighting assigned to any of the components in the application. As such, a holistic approach is taken during the review process. The components of the application that are assessed include your transcript, GMAT score, essays, and recommendations. The admissions team looks for strengths in the overall profile.
2. Is it better to do a MBA or a specialized Master’s?
The choice of degree is dependent upon each individual. The MBA is a two-year program that provides a broad overview of all areas in business. It is designed for those who are looking to gain general management skills with the option to specialize in a variety of sectors or functional areas. The specialized one-year Master’s programs is slightly more technical and ideal for individuals committed to working within a specific industry or function. The specialized degrees position students for professional entry level roles.
3. What is the benefit of submitting an application for the early deadline?
Submitting your application for the early deadline means you will receive an earlier decision. This will give you a greater amount of time to plan for arrangements (accommodations, financing, etc.) required for your Master’s. The early deadline also ensures that you will be considered for the scholarships and bursaries Schulich offers.
4. Do you have to have prior work experience or a business background?
The MBA and International MBA require a minimum of two years of post-graduate work experience prior to the start of the program. While it may be helpful, the one-year Master’s programs do not require applicants to have any prior work experience. Students can start in these programs immediately after completing their undergraduate degrees. An undergraduate degree in business is not required for admissions consideration. A number of our successful candidates come from non-business backgrounds. However it should be noted that those interested in the Master of Finance or the Master of Science in Business Analytics, should have strong quantitative backgrounds.
