Over the past few months, millions of workers across the globe have been furloughed or laid off due to the coronavirus pandemic – a reality that has affected women the most.

Just in the second week of March 2020, according to data by the Institute for Women’s Policy Research, over 412,000 of the total 701,000 jobs lost were held by women. Moreover, in April 2020 the US Bureau of Labor Statistics found that women accounted for over 55 percent of the 20.5m jobs that were eradicated during that month.

To address this imbalance, companies and non-profits are mobilizing to offer targeted support for female employees and entrepreneurs, including female-oriented networks, job-hunting platforms and emergency funds.
